Has anyone seen this movie? I have not seen it but I've heard that it gives a difficult, but important perspective on one of the many facets of poverty in Haiti. I know we weren't supposed to add new finds, but I thought I would post the trailer and gauge interest.

Wow! This is the first time I have heard of this movie! It looks amazing though and it just leaves me without words to hear about the different kinds of slavery that still exist to support global economies.

The people who can enslave other desperate people and threaten their lives for the sake of money and power are the kinds of people that we are up against. It just makes me scared about our future.

This also reminds me of the CLP that was tonight at the Chapel called Theology, Ecology, and Sustainability. It was mentioned how aware we need to be of where the food we are eating comes from and this just supports that notion. Exploitation is not okay and people need to be more and more aware of how their choices are supporting these slavery practices. The big corporations are just running off of the fact that no one is going to stop them because we can't give up the cheapness, or the convenience. The scary thing is...they may be right.

WOW! This looks so interesting. Any way we can get this on DVD and have a class showing of it?

This looks really interesting.  I haven't heard of this one. It'd be great if we could find it to watch as a group.

The trailer sort of reminded me of Blood Diamond and one scene where the journalist, trying to raise awareness about modern slavery within the diamond market in Africa, said, "The people back home wouldn’t buy a ring if they knew it cost someone else their hand."  I can never decide if that's true or not, but I hope it is and hope documentaries like this will raise awareness.
